«2012» – The Truth or an Absurdity?

When analyising the many films released by Hollywood every year on religions topics, its easy to conclude that the film makers do not comprehend fully what the bible scriptures say and they actually never take much time to consult with biblical experts on these issues. The film 2012 is no exception to this rule. We asked for commends, concerning the main prophecies shown in the film 2012, from the president of an international christian organization, Christ for All Cities, Mr.Henry Madava. IIncidentally, we should note that the Brazilian government filed a lawsuit against the producers of this film. The Brazilians did not like that their statue of Jesus Christ was so shamefully used and desecrat.

Who knows the exact date of doomsday?
Mr.Madava, can you please commend on whether its pos-sible, based on the Bible, to actually pin point the date of the end of the world and should people be panicking about it?
H.M. «According to the Bible the end of the World as we know it today, will come when Jesus Christ comes back the second time. Reading the words of Jesus Himself in Matthew 24:36.
“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only”.
We conclude that in reality people do not and can not have any knowledge of when the end will be. From the Bible though, we have some signs pointing forwards the end or the things that need to happen before the end comes, but we can not pin point a day, year or hour. There is not much time left before 2012 will be over and once again we will be witnesses to the futility of human attempt to foretell things that aren’t for us to do. I wish people would be interested more in being ready to meet Jesus than spending so much time concentrating on the end itself».
I.K. «Is it possible that our world could be destroyed by another flood and can global warming be a step towards confirming this?»
H.M. «In Biblical history there was a flood that destroyed life on earth, and in that very story that’s where we find an answer to your question.
«Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him, «Behold, I establish my covenant with you and your offspring after you, and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the livestock, and every beast of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark; it is for every beast of the earth. I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.» And God said, «This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.» God said to Noah, «This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth». Genesis 9:8-17.In the light of the above stated, any speculation on the flood issue is nothing but ignorance or a desire to make people panic.
I.K.«In that case, how will this civilization end? What’s going to happen? Is it going to be an earth quake, which have become so active recently, or nuclear war, comet or some cosmic fireball?»

How our planet will be destroyed?
H.M. «Keeping in mind that we don’t know when that will happen and that no one can speculate about this, I would like to mention that the Bible does mention how the end will be. In the New Testament, 2 Peter 3:5-10 «For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed».
From this it’s easy to conclude, that fire and heat shall be the main elements of distruction at the end. Ever though the makers of 2012 did massive mistakes, the end of this world is near. This conclusion comes from comparing Jesus words which. He uttered prophetically, with the daily events happening today.
The main issue is that people should not feel threatened or be in fear because of the makings of Hollywood but rather look for truthful answers in the Bible».
I.K. «Mr. Madava, How Do you relate to the basis on which 2012 was made, that is the Mayan Calendar Cycle?»
H.M. «It’s true that the Mayan Calendar Cycle will end December 21, 2012, but it has ended before and like an odometer in a Car can be reset, So will a new Cycle be set as well. Besides, the Mayan prophecy is very disputable thus many have Come to a Conclusion, its fictitious, and there isn’t much Science in all the basis of 2012. The Sun aligning with the galactic center is not very truthful because actually it has been proven that it will be six degrees away, and this happens every year. Bad weather has been a usual event in the recent decade and Can not be an argument for proving the end of the world. Such a Serious prediction that affects many Cultures, religions, Scientists, governments and lives Can not be based on very questionable and unproven issues. My real basis of the impossibility of the end of the world in 2012 is what the Scriptures say, but I want people to realize that even scientifically its very absurd to make such a big prediction. There have been movies predicting the end of the world before, but due to greater technology, 2012 looks more real, but the Core truth remains: It’s not given to men to know when the end will Come. The main thing is to be ready to meet God through faith in Jesus when the real end of the world comes or if your life expires before the end of the world».
